You're sitting on the couch, craving a comfort watch. Maybe you want to see a tiny, bow-tied genius judge his family's dinner table etiquette. Naturally, you open Disney Plus. You type "Young" into the search bar, expecting the Cooper family to pop up next to Mickey Mouse.
Nothing.
It’s frustrating, honestly. We’ve been conditioned to think Disney Plus is the graveyard for every massive franchise. But if you're looking for the Medford, Texas, crew in the United States, you've basically hit a digital brick wall.
Is Young Sheldon on Disney Plus right now?
Straight up: If you live in the U.S., the answer is no. Young Sheldon is not on Disney Plus in the United States. The show is a Warner Bros. Television production. Because of that, it has lived almost exclusively on Max (formerly HBO Max) for years. Recently, Netflix struck a deal to share the streaming rights, which is why you can binge the first six seasons there too.
But wait. There’s a weird "kinda" here.
If you have the Disney Bundle, you technically have access to Young Sheldon... sort of. Since Disney owns Hulu, and Hulu has a "one-app" integration with Disney Plus, you might see the show listed if you have a Hulu subscription or the Hulu + Live TV package. But it’s not on Disney Plus. It’s just being piped in from the neighbor's house.
The international twist
Now, if you're reading this from the UK, Australia, or parts of Europe, things are totally different.
In early 2025, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) signed some massive licensing deals. I'm talking "shaking up the industry" massive. Because of these deals, Young Sheldon actually is on Disney Plus in several international markets. * United Kingdom & Ireland: Most seasons landed on Disney Plus in February 2025.
- Australia & New Zealand: All seven seasons are available to stream.
- Denmark & Italy: It popped up there too, much to the surprise of local fans who already had it on Max.
It’s a bizarre landscape. One week a show is exclusive to one app, the next it’s everywhere. Basically, streaming in 2026 feels like a giant game of musical chairs where the chairs are worth billions of dollars.
Why isn't it on Disney Plus in the USA?
Licensing is a headache. Honestly, it’s all about the "Pay-1" and "Pay-2" windows—the industry terms for who gets to show a program first and second after it leaves cable.
In the U.S., Warner Bros. Discovery wants to keep their biggest hits on Max to justify that monthly subscription fee. They did, however, realize that Netflix has a massive reach. By licensing the show to Netflix, they made Young Sheldon a global juggernaut all over again.
Disney Plus, meanwhile, focuses heavily on its core pillars: Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and National Geographic. While they are starting to add "general entertainment" (like the Grey's Anatomy and Family Guy stuff they got from the Fox merger), they haven't felt the need to pay Warner Bros. the king's ransom required to put Sheldon on the U.S. service.
The 2026 Netflix-Warner Bros. bombshell
Here is where things get really wild. As of late 2025 and moving into early 2026, Netflix has been in the process of a massive acquisition/merger deal involving Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming and studio assets.
What does this mean for you?
It means the "Is it on Disney Plus?" question is likely going to stay "No" for a long time in America. If Netflix successfully integrates the WBD library, Sheldon Cooper will have a permanent home next to Stranger Things and Bridgerton. Disney Plus is staying in its own lane for now, focusing on the Sony deal which brings some Spider-Man films to the platform instead.
Where can you actually watch it?
If you’re in the U.S. and desperate to see Sheldon’s first trip to RadioShack, here is your checklist:
- Max: They have every single episode, including the emotional series finale (Season 7).
- Netflix: They have the first six seasons. Season 7 finally dropped in April 2025, so the whole saga is likely there now.
- Hulu + Live TV: You can watch reruns or "On Demand" episodes if you have a live TV subscription.
- Purchase: You can always buy seasons on Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV if you hate the idea of a show disappearing when a contract expires.
What you should do next
Don't waste time scrolling through Disney Plus if you're in the States. You won't find it.
If you have a VPN, you could technically point your IP address toward London and find it on Disney Plus UK, but that's a lot of effort for a sitcom. Your best bet is to check your Netflix account first. Most people already have it, and since the "Sheldon-mania" of 2024, Netflix has made it very easy to find.
Keep an eye on the Max/Hulu/Disney+ bundle if you want everything in one place. It’s the closest thing we have to the "old school" cable experience, and it’s the only way you'll see a Max icon sitting inside your Disney interface.
Actionable Insight: Check your current Netflix subscription level. If you're on the "Standard with Ads" plan, Young Sheldon is fully available and usually one of the top-trending shows in the "Comedy" category. If you want the final season specifically and don't see it on Netflix, you'll need a Max subscription to finish the story.
